Verify in the product: A rollback dry run should report exactly which imported records would be removed and which later-edited records would be skipped. Rehearse the reversal without a database restore and confirm that old permalinks still redirect.
Trade-off to assess: Cleanup is still real work, and site owners keep a developer running it. If the current site is stable, staying put can beat migrating at all.
